Existing Members: How to use the new SportsGrad platform

Hey friends!

Super exciting time at SportsGrad.

After months of work, the Membership is open for new Members again!!

I’ve re-modelled the product, brought in an expert for an overdue rebrand (reply to this for any specific merch requests), and recruited an epic team of 3 (so far) to help scale this baby to the moon.

But I’m sure you’re wondering ‘what does this mean for me?’

In this email, I’m going to explain everything, and at the bottom of this email is a video showing you how existing members can start using the new platform.

Sounds great, so what's new?

Basically, I've remodelled the membership to give new members more flexibility to:

1. Only pay for the features you need (no more feeling like you’re not using it enough)

2. Come and go at any time (no more intakes)

3. Pay monthly or annually (to suit your budget)

Plus Meetups have been detached and will be treated as a separate thing, so there’s equal value in the platform for people in rural areas and those outside of Australia.

(Meetups are in the pipeline!)

To give new members more flexibility, I’m happy to introduce:

3 tiers of Membership:

Learn - For if you want to know what role in sport is perfect for you

Connect - For if you want to grow your network in sport

Fast Track - For if you want to give your applications a massive advantage

The current tiers and inclusions are laid out here.

This means new members can use it in several ways that suit you, for example:

  1. If you’re just starting out and you’re not sure about what job is right for you and not ready to jump in and network with people, grab a ‘Learn’ Membership

  2. Then, when you’re ready to grow your network in sport and meet other like-minded members, grab a ‘Connect’ Membership

  3. Finally, when it’s time to get on the job hunt, hop on a ‘Fast Track’ Membership (like Hinge, made to be downgraded)

  4. Then, when you get a job but you still want to keep learning from the industry, come back down to a ‘Connect’ Membership

  5. Or if you haven’t got time (perhaps you’re taking a gap year), come down again and keep your finger on the pulse with a ‘Learn’ Membership

Cool, so how do the tiers impact existing Members?

Lucky for you, nothing is changing for existing members, apart from the fact you're getting a better deal by sticking around:

1. Everyone will roll over to the new platform

2. There are no new charges or changes to your billing

3. You’ll all be given full access to the top tier ‘Fast Track’ Membership

4. As long as you remain a member, you will keep your OG pricing as a thank you from me for being here early (Like, forever - this is the last time I’m ‘grandfathering in’ Members to previous pricing)

Ok nice, so what’s the benefit of staying?

Let’s say you're on an O-OG monthly plan of $27.5/m (when the monthly option was last available in August 2023) that includes everything.

To get everything in the new membership requires the top tier 'Fast Track' option.

The next level down is 'Connect' which gives you access to events.

And below that is 'Learn' which gives you access to resources and Discord.

For new Members:

Fast-track = $59/m

Connect = $49/m

Learn = $29/m

Your membership = $27.5/m

For the same access to features:

OG Monthly Member savings per month = $31.5

OG Monthly Member savings per year = $378

Or maybe you joined during an intake period in the last year and got an annual Membership of $365/y

Again, you get everything in the ‘Fast Track’ Membership.

For new Members:

Fast-track = $590/y

Connect = $490/y

Learn = $290/y

Your membership = $365/y

OG Annual Member savings per year = $225

Ok but why have the prices gone up?

I believe what SportsGrad offers is super valuable, and I’m committed to making it a no-brainer at the new price point.

For example, most conferences ask for north of $750 to attend, and they’re once a year:

  • Sports Tech World Series ($750)

  • Business of Sport Summit ($1400)

  • Sport NXT ($2000)

These are one-off events to network with people in sport.

SportsGrad gives you 50+ events a year to grow your network for $490 if you’re an annual ‘Connect’ Member.

And even for the top tier, we give you everything to cut down the recruitment process to a fraction of the time it normally takes, to help you land a job paying at least $60,000. And you can use it all for $59 a month.

Pays to invest in yourself.

So... if you want to cancel, that is totally fine :)

I understand life changes, and maybe SportsGrad’s not for you anymore. All good.

But it means that if you want to return, you'll have to pay more depending on what you want to use.

So if you want to hold on to your OG billing which includes everything, you'll still hold on to that for as long as you remain a SportsGrad Member.

And if you understand that networking in sport is an infinite game that will accelerate your career as long as you’re alive, you stand to save $1000s over the next 5-10 years.

(Some OG members from 2020 still pay $14/m. But I will love them forever and never ask for more for giving SportsGrad a go in the early days haha)

(Not to mention the savings the $300 ‘Lifetime Members’ of 2021 continue to accrue lol)

Lucky for you, these are still the early days, and I appreciate everyone who gave it a go.

Totally fine, either way, but just wanted to make you aware before you decide :)

Ahhhh I’ve just cancelled my membership, can I still get my OG pricing back?

Haha no stress, you have until 5pm on Friday Oct 18 to email me and I’ll sort it out for you :)

Ok but I’m working in sport now, what about SportsGrad Pro?

We’ll be merging the ‘Pro’ and ‘Rookie’ Discord communities into one unified space.

This change is designed to create a more dynamic and vibrant community where you can connect with even more like-minded people, share insights, and access more diverse perspectives.

Why are we doing this?

  1. More Networking Opportunities: You’ll have access to a larger network of peers, including those in earlier stages of their careers. This is a chance to share your knowledge and connect with others who are passionate about working in sport.

  2. More Content & Conversations: With everyone in one place, you’ll benefit from richer discussions, more shared opportunities, and more diverse content.

  3. Improved Experience for All: By combining the communities, we’ll streamline the experience, reduce duplication, and make it easier for you to find the conversations and resources you need.

What About Pro-Only Benefits?

We understand that as a Pro member, you expect exclusive perks, and we’re committed to maintaining that value! You will still have access to Pro-only channels where you can engage with fellow seasoned members, plus special exclusive events. I’m also introducing Pro member badges to help you stand out in the community.

What Happens Next?

  1. If you’re a Pro Member and don’t have access to the main SportsGrad Community Discord, you can join here.

  2. Take what you need from the ‘Pro’ Discord now, I’ll be sunsetting it on Friday

  3. If you have any questions, reply to this email

I’m confident this change will bring more opportunities and connections for you, and we’re here to support you through the transition. If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to reach out.

Sounds great, let me in!!

Alrighty, let’s get you in. Watch the video below to get started.

Thank you for being an essential part of the SportsGrad community.

I’m excited to see the changes take place, and watch this Community grow together!

Cheers,

Reuben
